For more than 4,000 years, Emeralds have been among the most valuable gems in the world. Emerald is a variety of the mineral Beryl, of which Morganite and Aquamarine are also varieties!
It is classified as a medium or darker green to blue green Beryl, with its colour deriving from Chromium, Vanadium, Iron, or a combination of minerals. It has a vitreous (glass-like) lustre. Emerald is unique amongst the other Beryl varieties as it often contains its signature Emerald inclusions.
