It’s the experience of a lifetime. Stars swirling around the red carpet. Photographers snapping away. Fans screaming your name!

We catch up with red carpet regular Candace Cameron Bure to get her tips on what it takes to feel confident and to be ‘red carpet ready’.

What’s your go-to red carpet look?

My red carpet look changes because every red carpet is different. It depends on the event, what styles are trending, and what I am personally in the mood for.

Is it true that celebrities start preparing their skin for award-season months in advance?

Some celebrities may prep months in advance, but I believe in taking care of my skin all year long. However, I will give some extra love to my skin and pamper it right before award-season to ensure that I have that extra glow.

What’s your routine for glowing, red carpet ready skin?

I like to get a microdermabrasion treatment followed by a facial about three days before my event. On the day of the event, I start by using Dr. Lancer’s Polish, then Cleanse, then Omega Hydrating Oil mixed with Nourish. I followed with sunscreen because red carpet events are often outside in the afternoon. Finally, I finish with Dani Glowing Skin Perfector before I put on my makeup.

For those of us celebrating at home, what are your top tips for being ‘Red Carpet Ready’?

Hydration is most important and that means making sure I drink enough water weeks in advance. When I am able, I like to get a lymphatic massage about 3 days before the event. I also make sure I have a protein bar in my purse along with my lipstick and powder. On the car ride to the event, I try to lay as flat as possible, so I don’t wrinkle my dress.  I always have my phone ready so I can take pictures of other celebrities that may make an appearance. At home, try offering a protein-rich snack and fruit-infused water at your awards show viewing party! Just before the show starts, slip on an outfit that makes you feel good, and take pictures with your guests.

What do you do to calm your nerves before a red carpet event?

I don’t get nervous before a red carpet event because I’ve been doing them since I was 10 years old. They are really fun if you’re willing to embrace it!

Have you ever had to deal with any embarrassing emergencies like a dress tearing or a heel snapping?

I have not had any embarrassing emergencies, but one time before an Oscar party my dress alterations did not turn out right and the dress was unwearable! Thankfully, I had a backup dress ready to wear and it all worked out. That’s another tip: always have a backup.

What does confidence look like to you?

A big smile, being kind, genuine conversation, and looking others in the eye.

Do you have a red carpet moment that stands out in your memory?

Yes! My favorite red carpet was the Emmy’s in 2018 when Fuller House was nominated for Outstanding Children’s Program. I wore an amazing dress and felt really beautiful, but my favorite part was that I had my best friends/ cast mates alongside of me on that carpet.
